Asase Yaa T.E.A.C.H. (Theater Education Art Culture and Health)
Asase Yaa T.E.A.C.H (Theater Education Art Culture and Health), established in September 2012, is an arts and education program designed for students within the City of New York public and charter school system.
The Asase Yaa T.E.A.C.H (AYT) curriculum is designed for students in kindergarten through the 12th grade and features in-school instruction in the following performing arts genres:
Ballet Tap Hip-Hop
Musical Theater African Drumming Modern Dance
African & African Diasporic Dance Martial Arts Acting
Instrumental Performance Class The program is intended to share the beauty and richness of the performing arts and the culture they are based on. Discipline and technical training allow for each student to be supported and strengthened emotionally, mentally, and physically. By exploring the rich culture of the arts each child will walk away with knowledge and a sense of self-determination, needed both within school and in life. AYT instructors are some of the most qualified and seasoned teaching artists in their field. In addition to quality instruction, AYT also focuses on the education of the whole student. The program is designed to support each child’s educational, social, and physical development and provides them with new experiences.
