ENRICH.
EDUCATE.
ENTERTAIN.
Our annual Children’s Summer Arts Camp is a 6-week multidisciplinary summer performing arts program and day camp, and the only one in Brooklyn, NY that offers youth (ages 4-13) a chance to contribute, create, and produce an original live production. Every year at the end of camp for the past nineteen years, we have presented a theatre work created by the campers to a captive audience of family and friends.
In 2025, our production of Ananse the Medicine Man, a powerful adaptation of a classic Ghanaian folktale that explores truth, deception, and the consequences of misusing power, was presented. Scroll down for a photo gallery.
Over the six weeks, we teach writing, dancing, music, singing, drama, set building, costumes, choreography, staging, lighting, and sound.
In addition to our camp staff, we also attract top artists who have mastered their artistic discipline and volunteer their time to mentor campers in various creative aspects of developing the production.
Their daily routine also includes morning circle gatherings, playing games, arts and crafts, going on several field trips, and celebrating African Flag Day.
We strive to create memorable educational experiences to help youth build more self-confidence and stronger mental and physical health. We’re equally dedicated to maintaining a family atmosphere that encourages them to have fun and develop meaningful friendships.
